- My husband and I celebrated our 50th anniversary in the summer of 2016. The smiling chihuahua on my lap is our granddog, Simon. He traveled from the Atlantic to the Pacific on the bob trailer attached to our daughter's TerraTrike tadpole recumbent trike. I can't say enough good things about my TerraTrike Rover. I don't sell TerraTrikes, but maybe I should.
- Nearly 13 of our married years were spent living in and traveling in an RV. Newfoundland, Alaska, and the Oregon coast are three of our favorite places. We loved the RV life and still miss it.
- We grew up in Illinois, met and married there and lived 19 years in northwestern Illinois.
- We sold our house, got rid of our stuff and moved to San Antonio in 1986 because we'd never lived in a big city before. We didn't have jobs or a place to live or know anybody there but San Antonio is such a friendly city and we soon felt very at home. Galen was a stat keeper for the San Antonio Spurs pro basketball team but his real job was high school counselor. I was a medical transcriptionist.
- We sold our house and got rid of our stuff again when we moved into the RV.
- We now live in a house in the San Luis Valley of Colorado.
- We have a rooster named Roo and three hens: Cuddles, Candy, and Pearl. I make them birdseed "popsicles" in the summer and a hot breakfast in the winter. Yes, they are spoiled, happy chickens that sit on our lap and eat of our hand.
- We have a feral black cat named Panther that has learned to like and trust us but nobody else yet.
- We play music with our friends in an old time mostly string band called The Company of Friends. Galen sings and plays guitar and washtub bass. I play the mountain dulcimer. We jam for fun and also play at local events, nursing homes and churches. Galen and I are members of the Alamosa United Methodist Church.
If you want to know more about dulcimers, check out McSpadden Dulcimers. I have two of them. The basics are easy to learn but there is ample opportunity to take it to far more challenging levels. The McSpaddens are so well made and sound so good. My custom is almost 15 years old and still looks and sounds beautiful.
